The Amateur Open
recognizes and honors all sanctioning organizations and charges NO
licensing fee. Your sportsmanship dictates our decisions. Your
riding skills govern our classifications. We trust you will ride
appropriately within your ranking. We thank you in advance for your
honest participation.
1. MANDATORY RIDERS MEETING after practice sessions are completed! 2. Riders age is determined as of the Amateur Open practice day. 3. One machine, per class, for all motos. 4. Stock bikes allowed in modified classes. 5. No pre-holding gate positions. (Unless back to back motos or double-biking) 6. It is a rider’s responsibility to be in staging on time, and at the start gate on time. (In case of back-to-back motos or
"double biking," it is the responsibility of the rider to notify officials to hold the start of the next race before the current
moto starts) 7. Only entered and checked-in riders are allowed on the racetrack. 8. No practice starts. 9. If a rider runs off the racecourse for any reason, re-entry is permitted at the closest and safest point from that exit,
without improving position. 10. YELLOW FLAG: Slow Down! Don’t Race! Maintain position; NO accelerated jumping; Use CAUTION until you pass
incident!! 11. RED CROSS FLAG: Slow Down! Don’t Race! Maintain position; NO accelerated jumping; Use EXTREMECAUTION
until you pass incident!! 12. Red flagged races are the decision of officials and/or medical personal. Riders return to their respected positions at the
start gate, for restart. 13. Riders causing red flagged races will be allowed to restart at the discretion of officials and/or medical personal. 14. A race stopped after 50% completed will be scored as finished. 15. Race bike must cross finish line, with rider on it, under driven power to be scored (No pushing the bike). 16. Riders and bikes, especially in stock classes, may be stopped briefly after checkered flag for subjection to protest
and/or impound. If no protests or disagreements occur, riders
and bikes will be allowed to return to their pits without impound. Do not ignore possible subjection stop!! 17. All bikes are subject at any time to inspection, evaluation, impound, and/or teardown at the request of the race officials.
Refusal of
official request to submit a bike could lead to disqualification. (Race bikes would generally be subjected only if under protest). 18. Bikes determined unsafe or working improperly by an official, or riders not complying with safety guidelines, will not be
allowed to participate until the situation is corrected. 19. "Foul play" while racing or practicing will be determined and judged by officials, including decision for penalty,
or disqualification. 20. Any un-sportsman like or disorderly conduct by riders, rider’s family, rider’s friends, or rider’s "crew" is grounds
for penalty, disqualification, and/or dismissal from event property, as per official decision. 21. The following proper protective gear is required to be worn by all riders during races and practice:
appropriate boots, approved helmet, pants, long-sleeved jersey, goggles, gloves. (The following protective gear is advised, but optional at the
riders, or guardian’s
choice: chest protector, knee braces or knee cups, neck brace, elbow pads). 22. Numbers are required to be uniform. (number plates, helmets, etc.) Numbers not legible will not be scored or announced. 23. Olympic Scoring will be used. All classes will race a minimum of two motos. Some riders in larger classes will race three motos.
Each moto counts.
(1st place = 1 point; 2nd place = 2 points; 3rd place = 3 points; etc.) 1st and 2nd
moto scores will be added together to acquire a single scoring number.
The lower the number, the better the placement. In regular 2 moto classes, the single scored number would determine your overall position. 24. Classes with more riders than the track can safely accommodate, will be split into divisions, and riders will race 2
motos in respective divisions, again adding scores together to acquire a single counting number. Riders scoring well would race a third final moto
(run-off) to
determine overall positions. 25. NO REFUNDS after early arrival pre-practice day begins. 26. All awards, winnings, products, prizes, etc. must be picked up at the event by recipient and/or representative, or be forfeited.
CLASSIFICATION DEFINITIONS:
BEGINNER, "D": 122cc-450cc; Beginner riders are only allowed to race beginner classes (stock and/or mod); Exceptions:
Beginners may race in 30 plus (Non-Pro); 40 plus (Non-Pro); or Women 122cc-250cc, even if ranked beginner) (No Mini Cycles; i.e. 85’s, 150’s,
big wheels, etc.)
Amateur Open beginner classes are instituted to give TRUE beginner racers an opportunity to race at a high profile amateur event.
The classes are monitored and racers are
expected to perform with limited abilities. Our beginner classification is gauged on execution of performance, as well as length of time racing.
If you’re currently racing higher ranked
classes elsewhere, race those classes at The Amateur Open. If you’re requested to move up in rank, either under protest or from an official
decision, congratulations on your graduation.
NOVICE, "C": Not currently racing or classified as intermediate
("B") with any other organization. A novice racer should not look too smooth, too stylish, or too perfect; otherwise your riding
ability could be interpreted as intermediate. If you’re requested to move up in rank, either under protest or from an official decision, consider it a
compliment. Welcome to the intermediate level.
INTERMEDIATE, "B": Not currently racing or classified as Pro, Pro-Am,
Expert, "A", etc… with any other organization. Some intermediate racers may choose to remain intermediate "indefinite". Other intermediate
racers might at one time have been "A" level ranked and choose to drop back. A "B" rider would be asked to move up to "A"
level ranking only
under protest, with warranted reason.
PRO, EXPERT, "A": Highest ranking classification; a money paying class,
no awards; technically not an amateur status class.
NON-PRO: Any "B" or "C" ranked racer, not currently classified
as Pro, Pro-Am, Expert, "A", etc. (Racing for awards, not money)
■ WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO RECLASSIFY OR CHANGE THE RANKING OF ANY ENTRANT, PER OFFICIAL DECISION!!
